MLK Day

Today we celebrated the life and accomplishments of a great man who stood up and fought for a noble and just cause. It's sad that in this great country we needed someone to come along and demand change, but I'm certainly glad that Martin Luther King, Jr. was there to make our country a better place. My friend, Amy Brandon, posted this on Facebook today. These are words to read, ponder and live by.
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word. --Martin Luther King, Jr.
And below is the original full version of MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech. This was the first time I have heard it all the way through. It's about 17 minutes. Take some time and listen to it. Sadly, when I was searching to find this, nearly everyone that had posted video of MLK on YouTube said they had disabled comments on their videos because of the hateful and racist things people were saying. We've come a long way as a country, but there are certain people who sadly STILL harbor racism. There still is work to do.
